THE HOITSUGAN SEMINARS 2008
Year 3
San Jose , Ca.
March 12-16
Ever wish you could go to Japan and train with all those great instructors?
4, 5, or 6 classes a day?
A weeks worth of classes every day? Karate straight from the source!
But who has the time and money? And with work, family, ... .
Well, here's how, only better!
20 incredible instructors gathering to teach four days of classes, open to karate students of every level and affiliation.
Through Nakayama Sensei's revered personal dojo, the Hoitsugan, have come many of the top Shotokan instructors and competitors from around the world. They lived in the dojo dorm and got up every day to train with the elite instructors of the Japan Karate Association. In the karate world these guys are legends.
Starting in 2005 many of these high level karate-ka began meeting once a year to teach Shotokan Karate as they had been taught directly by Master Nakayama himself. Every phase of Shotokan will be demonstrated from when it was introduced in Japan to the U.S. Air Force as an art of survival to the top tournament competitors of the last 40 years. Twenty of them will be instructing at the Hoitsugan Seminars this year.
A total of 45 different classes will be conducted from Wednesday, March 12 through Sunday, March 16. You can take one or take them all. Don't expect "mindless repetition". You are going to sweat and you're going laugh, too, but you will come away more advanced and with a higher degree of understanding of karate. In between classes everyone goes to lunch and dinner where they shares stories of their personal experiences of karate and life in Japan, the first-hand stories that you have read or heard the rumors of.
Why is this better, other than the fact that you can do it and go back to work on Monday?
So, what are you going to do the weekend of March 15-16? 1) Get that garage cleaned out? 2) Wash the car, pull a few weeds? Or 3) create one of the best memories of you life? Want a hint? Go for number three!
And add on the 12th, 13th and 14th if you can. For times, instructors, other info (check the site out even if you want to learn a lot about Shotokan in general):
