Gedan-Barai (lower level sweeping block) this is the first block learned, and is one of the most effective blocks to defend against lower level attacks. This block is also excellent at defending against a middle level kick. The block starts at the shoulder, travelling downward and across the body.

Stage 2: The straight preparing hand begins to pull back to your hip, while your blocking arm begins its course.

 Stage 4: Block is complete with forearm rotation giving an excellent ‘focus’ to the technique. Returning arm finishes at the hip, block ends at a lower level.
