Sorry I cannot find Tsudaka. If you can forward me the info , I would appreciate it.

So your Dojo is an adults only dojo with more advanced training or do you offer that options as well?

Thanks.

Their leader was trying to get a Shodan from our organization and never did...then went back to Shito and ended up skipping ranks ext.....the kind of McDojo stuff that really ticks me off...oh, and he's a Ninja...Shhhh dont tell anyone!

Fact is that Shito and Shoto grew out of the same era, Shito is no more "Traditional" than Shotokan is and to be frank, lots of their "bunkai" is just as crappy as the stuff we laugh at in Shotokan Demos...but they take it way more serious.

never sparred with one not from here, so I can not comment in general, the fact is that the guys I sparred with and the videos of the guy from here all point to them not being good at fighting at all! However, the dojo is not very good.

As always, go and see what the other club is like before taking classes, Shotokan, Shito ryu, Goju, Kyokushi or any other style will have good instructors and bad ones and great clubs and horrible ones.

I heard they do way more kata. That would really bother me. I know it has its place in the curriculim but 40 odd katas, I mean seems a bit overkill

I just find shotokan so aestatic and dynamic. And the quest continues....

Sigh.

There is also Hinode club taught by Krister Naab. Seems reputable but it's ISKF.

Any advantages going to a JKA dojo vs ISKF? I know they both come from the same lineage ultimately but anything to watch out for?

Cheers,
Bob.

Watch out for the BS that one org is better than another.

There are also several SKA clubs in the Vancouver area: http://canadashotokan.org/en/about/dojos/bc.shtml

I agree with Nathan,

Watch out for the BS! The thing is with so many fresh wounds that you will get that BS going on all the time now. Its sad really. Like I always say, go to a dojo for the training, leave because of the politics. If you can find a club that likes to "Shut up and train" then you are golden.

Grab a yellow pages.....er go on line...forgot how old I am  pick five or six clubs and go visit them all. Hell try ten. but find one that you like and just train. I had a issue when I lived out their for four months and could not find a single club I liked that did not talk "smack" about the others....so I trained with a guy in Jeet Kun Do....taught myself a very important lesson....Any Karate> that Jeet Kun Do club!

Thank you Paige, I had my first training session with Sensei Tsukada, and as you stated he is a great teacher and exactly what I needed. With a small number of students there is a lot of personal attention from a high calibre japanese master. A hidden gem really.

It's quite a shame that amidst so many commercial , watered down school someone like him has only such a small dojo, but I guess here in north america , speaking english fluently and dishing out belts takes priority. Anyway it works out for me as I can soak up all the knoweldge.

Thanks again,
Bob.
