Hi everyone,
This is Björn from Sweden. I am 41 yrs old and I actually don't train Karate....yet. :) I used to train Taekwondo and kickboxing some years ago. Now since I'm starting to get old (older anyway..) I feel that I need to start training again. The Taekwondo and kickboxing classes seem to have mostly teenagers or people in there 20's. Nothing wrong with that but it would be fun to train with people more in my age class.

So I have decided to join the local Shotokan karate club since they seem to have a greater mix of age groups. The intention is to stick with Karate for the rest of my life hopefully so it is important to feel at home in the club with the trainers and all. Was going to start this winter but since they lost one of the trainers they didn't want to accept any beginners just then. So hopefully I will begin now in August or September.

I'm trying to read up on Shotokan as much as I can before I start Trying to understand the importance of the hips and the snap of the techniques etc. All the stuff that seem to be a bit special in Karate.

Hope to find some useful info and tips here, and of course some helpful experienced Karatekas to ask if there is something I don't understand! :D

Have a great day all!
/Björn
