Sorry - but a bit of GKR bashing included

I picked this up on another forum.

How dire is this performance? If I was a 7th Dan head of a 'contoversial' organisation and looked this bad, I would certainly NOT allow it on YouTube!

Look at some of the comments below aswell!!!! Gosh! How gullible are some people?

I'm assuming the taller guy's the man you're talking about?
Interesting..... the little guy's not great, but he's giving it a go. But hey, there's hope for all of us then! :D :D

That proved all the Bad things I thought about GoKan ryu......were true. The only advantage Sullivan had was his height. The little guy made him look rather silly and he would have graded for maybe brown belt in any real dojo. I would love if he showed up here in winnipeg...I would spar with him. Just please...someone have a video camera ready

Apparently - it's a demonstration of 'free sparing' done by Kancho Sullivan in which he obviously seems to think he is dominating the little guy with his sheer presence.... but in reality the little guy is trying his hardest to show his esteemed leader up in front of his minions.

I bet they all paid a shed load for the priviledge too ....

Just looks embarising!

What do you mean trying. Sullivan did not really score much and the little guy out worked and out scored him. That simply showed me that sullivan should not be sparring in demos and can not free spar at all. Not good. Throw a MUCH older Tanaka in their against the 10th Dan Honcho...er Koncho and watch him melt in half a second or dirty his pants! I know of a few Fourth Dans that would eat him up and poop out sullivan nuggets with out much of a work out.

I dont know why I am so mad, maybe I am mad that so many pay so much for so little when they train with that fraud!

Wow, and read the notes left by visitors, Everyone but GKR guys think he is a joke. I am a Shotokan guy from one end to the other, but I can watch a Chito/Shito/Goju ext guy doing a Kata and say that it is good....Sullivan does NOT fall into that catagory. Do his own students not watch you tube and wonder why Head Honcho Sullivan looks like an arthritic old git that is making it up as he goes along??

The thing is, I don't think the little guy was trying to show him up - in fact he seemed to be going at it with far less venom than I would have in his place. (I'd have had both his legs out from under him for a start) He seemed to me not to realise he was completely outclassing him and was just being cautious waiting for the big reply....

But the point is, none of the people there saw it.... none of his people who watched the video saw it either.... I suppose the story of the Emperor's Clothes isn't that much of a fairy tale after all...

He looked more like a 7th kyu than 7th dan , I have seen brown blts better than him ,feel sorry for all those enthusiasts who attend and try to learn something useful and learn karate from this man .

not to be TOOOOO harsh here, but we all have to remember that the majority of the Karate people in the GKR are basically Tae Bo people, they are kept in the dark and fed this line of BS that he is great and the like, it is kind of like a religious cult really. If he ever walked into any real dojo and saw what went on and how a 3 Kyu could clean the floor with him he would run out the door. Sad really!
