Jiyu ippon kumite

Postby ShotokanDan » Thu Aug 09, 2012 9:12 pm

Hello all,

I wondered if anyone can clarify the details of jiyu ippon kumite to me, I know the general routine.

First off, do you have to return to the original position started in, or does the attacker just adjust to the defender after the counter?

Secondly, where exactly are the bows placed? Is it just at the very beginning and end of jiyu ippon, or when changing sides of body or attackers?

Advice from those within the ASK is preferred.

Regards,

Dan.

OK, ASK people. Give your advice, because the rest of us are not worthy.

You bow at the start and at the end of the exercise. No need to bow durning the routine. IMO

Hi Makoto,

Thanks for your advice, I have since found out what I needed to clarify and it is as you said :-)

Please don't take offence at me expressing a preference for those from within the ASK. It is simply that some organisations do things a little differently than others, certainly not because I see others as unworthy.

Oss,

Daniel.

After each attack defender steps back and attacker adjust and then proceed to the next ,it is called jiyu ippon whch mean semi free sparring ,so you are moving around , no need to go back to original position . jiyu ippon is a great half way house to free sparring .
