I thought i would share my good news. I started shotokan karate when i was 8 yrs old and progressed to red belt (8th Kyu) and was forced to stop due to the instructor leaving and no other clubs being near by (i was living in a remote village at the time). Anyhow, not at 28 and bored of the gym, i decided to give karate another go. so far i am loving every minute of it. After 5 months back i graded yesterday with Sensei Billy Higgins as the examiner and i am delighted to say that i passed. The grading went well and the pre-grading training session from Sensei Higgins was great. I was a little nervous during the grade and made a silly mistake in the kihon. Then I did well in the kumite before being punched in the forehead by the purple belt who was standing in so that i was against somebody my own size! Luckiy i managed to get something on the block and deflected it away from my nose! Then it was kata and i think i got through heian nidan with a good performance. Anyhow all in all it was a great experience and i cant wait to get back to training tonight!
