Because I have mentioned Ticky Donovan Sensei several times - some newer Karateka - have contacted me saying they do not really know whom he is or his achievements.

in an attempt to show them how good this man is I searched - BUT...

when i put the name 'Donovan' in within a MA context - it kept bringing up this guy...

who is he?

Andy - totally get your 'full on' response BUT he appears to be a 'yungun' - so someone is teaching him, leading him into this stuff. you were lucky You got FC and his team - this youngster got - :?:

but can someone explain 'what IT is?' is it a Kata comp - a display - WHAT?

not knocking the kid - just trying to get info afore responding/commenting.

I believe it is known as XMA .

This is apparently a FREE kata as they call it , they basically, make up their own so called Kata and make it as asthetically pleasing( apparently) as they can.

It is the pits and scurge of all martial arts.

Kevin

thanks for the info - but could you kindly lead me to a site that will 'explain their point' for this approach :?: I do not 'get it' but that may be because of lack of info to be fair.

Hi Folks

I've also heard this referred to as kicknastics and tricking...... I personally never mess with this stuff and try and keep both feet on the ground as much as possible. But if he has the ability to learn how to throw his body around this way.... he surely has the ability to do good karate.

Just needs a bit of guidance......

Just needed a few "jazz hands" and he'd have been perfect.....

But let's be honest, regardless of what you thought of his (lack of) karate ability, don't you secretly want to be able to do that jumping spinning stuff, just for fun? :D

Oh, just me then......
