Emma and I trained on a Seminar with Sensei McCarthy this past Monday, and we had such a brilliant training session.

How many of you guys have been lucky enough to train with him recently?

Yep - trained with him at Seni on Sunday. First trained with Sensei McCarthy in 2004 at a Jin Sei Kai hosted course. Very knowledgeable instructor!

I'm going to train with Sensei McCarthy again this Saturday in Bucks.

It's been about two years for me. I very much enjoyed his class.

Training with him on Wednesday 30th in Enfield at Trent Park college, very convenient.
Always an education to train with Patrick, mind you I've heard all his jokes before!

He taught a lesson based around the many themes existing through all Martial Arts, spending much time on locks, pressure points and chokes.

Excellent Class. We have a review of it on the way soon!!!

Just got back from one of his courses at Sussex Univversity.
I had a great time, my only problem is remembering it all. Luckily the first part of the partner work is from Tekki/naihanchi. Wrote the rest down. Very close in work. To anyone about to train with him, look at how close he keeps his elbows close to his body, it only occured to me as I was driving home.

All in all a revelation.

Trained with PM at Trent Park last night. I'd forgotton what a great course he gives (shame about the jokes though! :) )
We went through the kata "Nepai", unfortunately 3 hours is nowhere near enough time for PM to teach a whole kata and it's application practises, so we only managed to get through two thirds of the kata. This is one of the kata's mentioned in the "Bubishi" and apparently the one PM has studied the most intently. I love the way PM teaches kata, learning the application principles before the solo movement.
Great to see old mates Steve Quinn (who now represents PM's group in England) and Steve Coupland who organised the course. Hope to train with him again later in the year.

Hi guys,
I had the good fortune to train with Kyoshi McCarthy a couple of years ago but not before I had had dinner with him!!. I was a guest of the Chiltern Karate Association's chief instructor Ashley Croft who had invited me to attend the course but also to meet Kyoshi McCarthy the afternoon before the session! It was a wonderful experience as the man's knowledge is seemingly endless and he easily answered the questions I was firing at him. And then he went on to give us a blistering seminar. Absolutely outstanding and an experience I will never forget.

Regards,

Ajay

Sorry guys, but I've been off the scene for a while and I haven't read the Patrick McCarthy interview, but that is a situation I intend to remedy very swiftly.
